Hi my name is Bob Barr. I'm fundraising for my newest grandaughter Adeline and her family.
Adeline was born July 22, 2022, weighing 10lbs 7oz! On her 4th day of life, Adeline became sick with a high fever. She was rushed to Honor Health Shea Medical Center in Scottsdale, AZ. She was immediately treated with Spinal Tap, IV, Antibiotics. After 2 days of testing the results are positive for Parechovirus.
In infants less than 3 months, and especially for those under 1 month, it can lead to seizures, swelling of the brain and surrounding tissue, and sepsis-like illness, often requiring hospitalization. Sepsis is when the body's response to an infection damages the body and leads to poor organ function. Sepsis symptoms include fever, shortness of breath, sweating and extreme pain. Parechovirus infection can also lead to long-term neurodevelopmental issues, though it's rare.
There is no treatment. Adeline is receiving antibiotics, IV fluids, and is resting. As of this writing, she is 9 days old and seems to be improving. She has spent most of her life in NICU.
I am raising funds to help with Adeline's medical costs. Ambulance and NICU are expensive and insurance doesn't cover everything.
