Hi, my name is Cali, and I’m fundraising for my sweet two-year-old blind kitty, Adele.
I adopted Adele from the shelter in 2024, and I fell in love with her immediately. She was blind in one eye, missing the other, FIV+, and had already been in the shelter for months when I met her. I couldn’t believe someone hadn’t scooped her up already. From the moment she came home, she became family, and everyone who’s met her since has fallen just as hard for her sweet, spunky personality.
In early December, Adele began to decline very suddenly. She started showing alarming behavioral and neurological symptoms that came on out of nowhere. Watching her go through that was terrifying, and we immediately began seeking answers. Since then, she has been in and out of the vet’s office and seen by multiple specialists. For weeks, all of her tests came back normal, until we pushed for an MRI and spinal tap. Those results showed irregularities consistent with FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis).
FIP is a rare viral disease that was once considered a death sentence for cats. Thankfully, there is now a treatment available with an 80–90% success rate, especially when started early. As soon as we learned there was a possibility that Adele had FIP, we immediately began treatment.
We are doing everything we can to help Adele feel better and give her a fighting chance- and she is fighting. Despite everything she has been through, between her symptoms, her playful and affectionate nature still shines through. She is such an integral part of our family and has brought so much light to our lives. At only two years old, she has so much life left to live and we want to give her every opportunity to do so.
Unfortunately, the cost of getting her to this point has been overwhelming. From her initial vet and emergency visits, blood work, x-rays, pain management, all the way to her recent MRI, ECG, and spinal tap, we have racked up thousands in vet bills, with thousands more to go in treatment for FIP.
Funds raised will go directly toward:
- Emergency and specialist veterinary bills
- FIP medication
- Ongoing vet visits and monitoring
- Supplementary care and lab work
If you’re able to donate, even a small amount, it would truly mean the world to us and to Adele. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this GoFundMe would help more than you know. Thank you so much for taking the time to read Adele’s story and for helping give her a fighting chance. I’ll continue to share updates as we have them.
With so much gratitude,
Cali
