Help Adela breathe free!
Donation protected
Adela is struggling. She's a mother and a grandmother, a small farmer, a speaker of the Q'eqchi' language, and a resident of the warm lowlands of Guatemala.
And she has a very large growth in her abdomen.
Doctors in her country think that they can fight it with a surgery... but she needs to pay $3000.
Three of Adela's adult children -- and five of her grandchildren -- are our neighbors in Kingston, New York. Every day, they worry about their mom, sending her messages back and forth on WhatsApp, negotiating with the doctors in Guatemala City, trying to find a way to make the surgery happen. They are short on the cash that they need. They really appreciate any way that we can lend a hand.
Adela's daughter recently sent me several pictures, along with a mountain of medical documents. At first glance, the pictures make it seem that Adela is pregnant. But the medical documents show something different. She has a very large growth in her abdomen, and doctors think that it needs to come out right away.
Please contribute to the cost of the surgery. Any money donated will be given to Adela's daugther in Kingston to send directly to Adela's doctors. If we raise more money than can be spent on the surgery, whatever is left over will go to helping Adela and her family with needs connected to the illness. Let's hope that Adela gets back to her regular routine... to breathing free.
