My name is Huma Sajjad, and I am asking for your help for my husband, Adeel Riaz, 48.

On September 13, 2026, Adeel was returning home from a motorcycle ride with friends when, just one or two minutes from our home in Wylie, Texas, another vehicle struck him while he was making a left turn.

Adeel has safely ridden motorcycles for over 6 years and always prioritized safety. He was wearing his helmet, protective jacket, gloves, and full riding gear. Despite every precaution, this accident changed our family's life forever.

Adeel suffered a catastrophic spinal cord injury. His spinal cord was severed, leaving his lower body permanently unresponsive. He also suffered a left shoulder injury and numerous other injuries and bruises. He underwent more than five hours of surgery and remains hospitalized. He will soon begin months of intensive rehabilitation.

Before this accident, Adeel was an active, social person. He played pickleball almost every day, rode with his motorcycle friends on weekends, worked as an IT professional, and was a loving husband, father, and active member of our community.

I am a high school teacher, but I had to leave my job to become Adeel's full-time caregiver. Our 16-year-old son is also facing this life-changing situation with us.

We are asking for $150,000 to help with Adeel's medical bills, rehabilitation, physical therapy, medications, wheelchair and medical equipment, home and vehicle modifications, caregiving, and essential family expenses.

Adeel has health insurance, but it will cover only part of what lies ahead. The insurance available from the other driver is also extremely limited, leaving our family facing significant long-term expenses.
