Update 10/26/2024

Alright Team Ade! Time to rally further. Thank you to all who have already donated, including those who have donated directly to her! It has helped her obtain expertise for the best treatment plan! This is an update we all didn’t want to hear, but Ade’s cancer has spread to other parts of her body. The original PET scan that we all cheered about being clear was inaccurate. She is now in the best hands at Keck-USC who will be tailoring her treatment to address and shrink the cancer. If you feel it in your heart to share this fundraiser as far and wide as we can, now is the time to do so!!

As you all know, her big village is taking care of her well! If you wish to contribute in other helpful ways, please reach out to your closest contact in her village! There is a need for rides to chemo, meal gift cards, as well as a welcoming committee and short-stay places for her parents to be closer to LBC than Indio during November. She just cut her hair to donate to Locks of Love and is doing well considering all that has happened in the last 3 months. For all of those who have been so helpful and supportive in the rollercoaster that led here, she is so thankful!!

We will be creating a group chat soon for inner circle peeps to spread news to others, as well as to easily communicate re: coordinating support, rides, etc. In addition to people being at her place daily if she wants them, she has also acquired the sweetest emotional support dog, as needed (iykyk)!

08/05/2024. This past year has been full of lessons. One of the biggest I’ve learned is how important a friend support group is. Whether you call them your tribe, village, girl gang, girl squad, gal pals, peeps, etc., we all need them. We were not meant to live this life secluded or alone. A very dear friend in my girl squad is up against her second battle with breast cancer. She needs all the love, prayers, and support we can give to help her through whatever waters she faces, until she is cancer-free again.

Many of you know Adrienne as we have mutual friends, but some of you may not. If not, then you are missing out. Adrienne is the friend everyone should have in their life. She’s always up for a weekend brunch. She’s the glue that keeps her friend groups together. She’s the one who goes the extra mile to make you feel included. But her friendship is more than being a good time. Adrienne’s the one who checks in on you when you’ve been silent just a bit too long. The one who will sit with you and let you cry without trying to fix you. The one you can talk to about your problems and not be one-upped or compared with, just listened to. So needless to say, it’s time for us to be her support. But we need your help. Adrienne is undergoing surgery this week followed by radiation treatment. Because of this, she will have to take time off of her work as a Child Life Specialist where her passion as a child, teen, and parent advocate shines through. As well as switching sides from volunteering as a breast cancer survivor advocate through The Pink Journey Foundation, to being a patient. Both her job and her volunteerism are such a large part of who Adrienne is at her core.

This will not only be a stressful time but also a financial one. While some of the medical cost will be covered by insurance, unfortunately some will not. This GoFundMe is being set up in her name to help offset some of her medical and living expenses. When you donate, there is an option to decrease the 18% tip amount GoFundMe takes so more of your donation goes directly to her. We know not everyone may be in a position to give monetarily. But if you are able to donate any amount to help Adrienne with her medical bills, as well as living expenses while she is off work recovering, I know she will be extremely grateful.
