Help Addison Fight IMHA and Reclaim Her Health

Hi, we're Jen & Chelsea, and we're reaching out for support for our beloved 7-year-old dog, Addison. She's been a joyful and loving member of our family, always eager for meals and affection. However, on February 21st, our world turned upside down when Addison suddenly refused to eat—a behavior entirely out of character for her.​

Concerned, we took her to the vet, where initial tests suggested Addison's disease—an ironic coincidence given her name. After further evaluations and hospital stays, she was diagnosed with IMHA (Immune-Mediated Hemolytic Anemia), a severe autoimmune condition where her immune system attacks her red blood cells.​

Since then, Addison has endured multiple blood transfusions, daily blood tests, and a complex medication regimen. The high-dose steroids prescribed have led to significant side effects, including behavioral changes that resulted in incidents with our other dogs, leading to additional veterinary expenses.​

Addison's health challenges have been compounded by liver complications and her spleen now being affected. While spleen removal surgery is recommended, it must be delayed until she's safely weaned off steroids—a process that will take several weeks.​

To date, we've spent over $13,000 on Addison's medical care, including emergency visits, treatments, and medications. The financial strain is overwhelming, and we're at a point where we need to ask for help.​
