Help Addison battle Osteosarcoma

Donation protected
One of our students at Durant Road Preschool, five year-old Addison Owens, had been complaining about leg pain late this summer, just three short weeks before starting kindergarten with her identical twin sister, Avery. Her mother Courtney took Addison to her primary care physician thinking it was going to be a simple case of 'growing pains'.   The doctor ordered x-rays of her leg, and later that same day in early August her parents received a call suggesting there was an irregularity that suggested osteosarcoma.

Addison was immediately referred to Duke Pediatric Oncology for possible bone cancer.  After a very overwhelming week with several appointments and scans, she was scheduled for a biopsy. It confirmed her parent’s worst nightmare: osteosarcoma in her right distal femur.

Our sweet Addison was then scheduled to start 11 weeks of chemotherapy as soon as the official pathology report was in, with surgery to follow that, then chemotherapy again, to end approximately in late spring 2020.   We are asking for support for Addison and her family during this most difficult time of their lives.  Your donation will help in ways most of us never expect:  lost income, travel expenses and medical expenses that will continue for years to come. Please help them any way that you can.
