Help Addison and Andrea Rebuild After Flood
Donation protected
My roommate Andrea and I moved into our cozy, ground-level place at Peachtree Park Apartments in mid-July. We are both Atlanta natives and love living in this city. On Thursday September 26th hurricane Helene blew through Atlanta. A little after midnight water began to seep and bubble up through the floorboards. Water from the creek out back rose at least 20 feet due to the constant downpour and was up against the back door.
By the time we noticed the water it was already a few inches deep across the entire apartment. We saved what we could, loading up the couches and counters with the instruments, electronics, and sentimental goods we could get to quickly. We had to dump water out of the computers that were sitting on the floor. By the time we were able to gather our things the water was up to mid-calf and we had to evacuate.
The parking lot was flooded up to mid-thigh and I had to leave my car behind.
Both of us were already barely making ends meet before this, so this disaster was devastating. We are both lucky to be safe, but this has taken a huge toll financially and emotionally on both of us.
We lost all of our furniture in addition to tons of books, electronics, clothing and irreplaceable sentimental items.
The purpose of this fund is to help us with the cost of finding and moving into a new apartment (above ground-level) as well as living expenses in the meantime. The second purpose will be replacing our furnishings and any electronics and other items that were ruined once we find a new place.
Anything you can spare is deeply appreciated!
