We, Tsion Taddele Hagos, Lidya Berhanemeskel Bitewelgn, and Deborah Zewdie Tadesse, are Addis Ababa University law students committed to international humanitarian law and proud to represent Ethiopia at the 50th Jean-Pictet Competition taking place from 22 to 29 March 2026, in Indonesia and Singapore.
The Jean-Pictet Competition teaches international humanitarian law through real-world simulations. For us, from a country facing ongoing humanitarian challenges, it is a chance to gain the skills and understanding to make a real difference at home.
To make this possible, we need support. Our total participation cost is CHF 4,550 (EUR 4,840). We aim to raise CHF 2,820 (EUR 3,000) through this crowdfunding campaign while seeking the remaining support from institutional donors. This amount includes the registration fee CHF 940 (EUR 1,000), flights and local transport CHF 3,000 (EUR 3,200), visas CHF 160 (EUR 170), insurance CHF 32 (EUR 35), plus a contingency of 10% CHF 410 (EUR 440) to cover any potential price increases.
Your support, in any amount, brings us closer to reaching the Jean-Pictet Competition and carrying Ethiopia’s voice with us. Thank you for believing in us and for helping three young Ethiopian women move closer to the work we hope to dedicate our lives to.
