Our car was unexpectedly totaled by mystery black mold shorting out the electrical system. So we’re out of time to save for a wheelchair accessible van and are asking for your help. Adding a ramp to a van adds about $30,000 to the price, which is why we need some help to make it happen. This will allow us to take my powerchair instead of my folding chair, which means we can do things like going to the Bosque in addition to more safely going to doctor’s appointments. I want to get out there and take more beautiful pictures of sunset!

Currently, I am only able to take my folding wheelchair to appointments, which carries the risk of further damaging my joints leading to the need for surgical repair. While we’ve set the amount of the GoFundMe for the full amount of the vehicle (minus our expected payout from insurance), anything that helps us bridge this unexpected and urgent need will be of great help. We had planned to have another three years to save towards this expense, and had not counted on a fungus having other plans for us! Although the car is totaled, we still owe the mechanic for a repair bill incurred while they were diagnosing the problem, which is several thousand dollars out of the insurance settlement.
