Help Ada's Family Rebuild After Typhoon Emong
Donation protected
Ada has been part of my family for years now. She provides care for my parents in Kuala Lumpur with a great deal of gentleness and devotion. She's from the Philippines, and like so many who work far from home, she sends what she can back to her family while building a life between two worlds.
Everything changed when Typhoon Emong swept through San Fernando City and took everything — and I mean everything — from Ada's family. The home where her husband Anthony and their boys Jacob and Jaden lived, gone. Her extended family's homes, also gone. They made it out alive wearing only what they had on, but that's all they have left.
Ada is thousands of miles away, unable to be with her family or see what's left or help them figure out what comes next. My family have watched Ada give so much of herself to others, not just my parents. Now I’m hoping you'll help me give something back to her.
What I’m asking for will help with:
- Basic necessities — food, clothes
- A means to rebuild their home
- Replacing everything they've lost, from household items to school supplies
- Giving them breathing room to heal and plan for what's next
I know we're all dealing with A LOT right now. We all have our own challenges. But if you can spare a contribution, it would mean the world to Ada and her family.
Ada's not the kind of person who would ever ask for help like this. She's probably mortified that we're doing this. (This is why I've not used her photo here but instead I've opted for stock photos of Emong's devastation.) But sometimes family’s gotta step in when family needs help.
I’ve never done anything like this before (I had to google how to start a GoFundMe). Thank you for caring about someone you've never met. And if you can't donate, sharing this would mean just as much.
Every bit helps. Every share matters. Thank you.
