Hi, my name is Adam Ferrero. I'm a Navy veteran working on my degree, married to an amazing woman, and blessed with an amazing, vibrant six-year-old daughter. We’re a hardworking family trying our best to stay afloat, and asking for help is something we never imagined we’d have to do.

Recently, a series of unexpected hardships hit us all at once. My wife was laid off during her company’s downsizing, and at the same time, the income we depend on to pay our rent suddenly fell through. I’m a full-time student, and our housing is normally covered by my 9/11 G.I. Bill stipend. However, due to a clerical error, the VA underpaid us by several thousand dollars and is currently demanding back previous funds already paid out.

On top of that, we were hit with several essential, time-sensitive expenses that we simply couldn’t postpone. With everything happening at once, we’ve fallen two months behind on rent and are struggling to stay current on our basic bills.

We’re doing everything we can to get through this, but right now we simply can’t catch up without help. Any support, no matter the amount, would make a real difference for us while we work to resolve the VA issue and get back on stable footing. It will take about $5,500 to get us current on rent and avoid eviction, as well as about $1,200 to catch us up on our phone and electric bills so they do not get disconnected.

My hope is that we can come out on the other side of this with enough stability to pay it forward. There are several amazing organizations out there I would love to support with any additional funds we receive, and I would encourage anyone who could spare it during such a turbulent time to check them out as well; there are many in our country right now struggling.
