UPDATE!:

Because of your help I’m nearly at the finish line to be moved by the deadline. Yet here I am again asking for help.
90% of the trips moving things have been done by myself with only two days involving another set of hands to help.
My vehicle while it holds a lot, I am burning through gas on each trip of what it can carry. This Tuesday the 27th I have two people to help me and two pickup trucks. More people would be better. A LOT BETTER.
But people have lives and then this damn snow made everything even more difficult. I’m already at half capacity with my heart so I am slow.
I have until the 31st to be out. That is only 6 days including today! I can’t pay rent at two places.
I currently have $9 in checking and $8 in savings. All of the money has been spent on living expenses for the 2 months without income. Add in the expenses of moving and it goes fast.
If you can help me this one last time with any amount,
I can get this done and you’ll never be asked again.
$5 or $20 It all makes a huge difference! Also if you can help physically with moving and a vehicle please message me!
Thank you all again so much. Adam & Banksy

Hello, my name is Adam Mercer, and I never thought I’d be in this situation where I needed to ask for money. I’ve worked my entire adult life and paid my taxes like everyone else. I was generally fit and worked many manual labor jobs from construction to a water bottling plant lifting 2000 8lb bottles a day, to a feed mill throwing 100lb bags around. The line “It’s not the years, it’s the mileage” spoken by Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones is very fitting in my case. Starting in my late 30s, I had back surgery after extreme sciatica, followed by double hip replacement at 44. I was back to work and improving until I needed a shoulder repair that later turned into a joint replacement. In 2021, I nearly died from an unexpected bout with Necrotizing Fasciitis. A month in the hospital, then a month of rehab, followed by 2 more weeks in the hospital after some of the infection persisted. I thought I was in the clear until my shoulder joint became infected and needed to be removed. 8 weeks of IV antibiotics and put the new joint back in. So that’s 4 surgeries on the left shoulder. Carpal tunnel surgery on both hands as from work and drumming for 49 plus years my hands were shot. All the while, my knees were going bad. I did injections for as long as I could until my right knee required a joint replacement. This was followed by the right shoulder going bad with a surgery to repair 2 tears in my rotator cuff a month later in April 2025. Then, when I thought I’m gonna get back to work soon, I had to take an ambulance to the hospital when I had trouble breathing for 10 hours. Turns out I had Congestive heart failure, which I’m being treated for now. I’m following my doctor’s orders with new medications and I even quit drinking.

This was followed last week with news by my landlord of 12 years that I’d need to buy the house or get rid of my dog if I wanted to stay. I can’t afford anything right now as my only income is $967 from SSI. Also, with SNAP cut off by our politicians, I am going to food pantries.

I simply need a helping hand to pay bills, and likely relocate to a cheaper living situation. When you factor in all the normal day-to-day expenses plus moving help and security deposits, I am extremely underwater. My family does not have the means to help me through this situation till I can be working again. Asking for help is something I never thought I’d need to do. It’s more difficult than you may realize as it simply makes you feel like a complete failure.

I’ve been playing drums in bands and studios for the last 30 plus years and sent money to various GoFundMe posts for friends and some strangers when I could. Played countless benefit shows to help others with medical and living expenses too. This isn’t going to be my life forever as I will get back to working sooner than later. But today I need help and quickly. Whatever you can help me with is appreciated. I’ve had many people in the past help me before and I’ve tried to pay that forward as I’ve gone along my way.

Being kind is free, but bills unfortunately don’t get paid with being kind. I may be broken, but I’m not out for the count. Thanks for taking the time to read my story. If you or someone you know can help, please spread the word. Sincerely, Adam Mercer
