ADAM'S STORY
Uncle pillow, as the kids in our family call him, the loving husband of my cousin Janixa and father of their three sons, and GOD father to my daughter.
Adam, recently diagnosed with colon cancer, that has spread to the liver. On Feb. 16, 2024, it was confirmed metastatic stage 4 liver and colon cancer. Adam is expected to start aggressive chemotherapy followed by several surgical procedures.
Adam is an amazing, caring, loyal person with a heart of gold, always willing to help and leaves a positive impact and mark on everyone he meets.
My cousin Janixa is currently on an indefinite leave of absence related to her own medical health conditions, who recently underwent open heart surgery not once, but twice. Adam is the sole provider and was laid off Nov 2023, was expected to go back to work Jan 2024, however, continues to be laid off at this time. He is struggling to plan for the unexpected living expenses and medical cost, while dealing with the diagnoses of cancer. They have three boys, two which still live at home, and one with special needs that requires extensive supervision and redirection.
My name is Johanna, my cousin Janixa, is Adam's wife. It is with an extremely heavy heart that I am even writing this story on behalf of my cousin Janixa. She couldn’t gather her thoughts or even the strength to write a mini biography about their life together, let alone seek help from anyone. They are left with many difficult decisions and situations, one of which is figuring out how they will be able to pay their monthly bills, cover the deductible and copays for the medical bills. Medical bills have already begun to trickle in, and this is for the testing to confirm metastatic stage 4 cancer, not including the upcoming treatments, procedures, medications, and surgery. Their insurance out-of-pocket deductible at this time is 8,750 which has not been met and will likely go up for the next year, and copays will be expected to be paid as well.
JOURNEY
Adam is expected to start extensive and aggressive chemotherapy in the upcoming weeks prior to his first surgical procedure, resections of the liver. GOD willing, he will continue with chemotherapy and have another surgical procedure to remove the cancer in the colon. It is only by the grace of GOD that he is still with us.
LOVE STORY
Adam and Janixa have been together for 26 years and married for 21. When they met in 1998, They were two broken souls, that found comfort in each other's scars. Their pasts were marked by heartbreak and turmoil, yet their union brought a sense of healing and redemption. Despite their individual struggles, in 2003 they became married and built a life together that seemed straight out of a fairy tale. With love and determination, they transformed their pain into strength, creating a haven of warmth and acceptance within their marriage. Behind closed doors, they nurtured each other's wounds, offering calmness and understanding in moments of darkness. Together, they built resilience and hope, turning their fractured pasts into the foundation of a beautiful, unconventional, happily ever after.
From the moment they met, their souls intertwined, creating an unbreakable connection. Their love knows no bounds. they found completeness, unable to fathom a world where they are not together. Their love is a beacon of hope, for they are truly inseparable, two halves of a whole, destined to love each other and their children.
This is the type of love everyone wishes to experience at least once in their lifetime. It is a love, like no other, one without the other would not make sense.
