On Monday July 26th Adam was admitted into Salina Regional Health Center after many tests, including Spinal Taps, MRI's, blood work, etc., it was confirmed that he had Guillain-Barre Syndrome, which is a very rare neurological condition (this explains the sudden paralysis). Guillain-Barre (gee-YAH-buh-RAY) Syndrome is a rare disorder in which your body's immune system attacks your nerves. Weakness and tingling in your extremities are usually the first symptoms. These sensations can quickly spread, eventually paralyzing your whole body. In it's most severe form, Guillain-Barre syndrome is a medical emergency. Most people with the condition must be hospitalized to receive treatment. Guillain-Barré syndrome A condition in which the immune system attacks the nerves.

With all of this news its unknown when Adam will be released from the hospital, and then once released what his rehabilitation plan will be. Because of the uncertainty of the healing timeline, and his inability to work, family and friends are reaching out asking how they can help. We are setting up this Go Fund Me page for those who would like to help Adam and his family during this time.

Day 1 update: Update on Adam: Spinal Tap came back and he does in fact have Guillain-Barre, tomorrow morning they will put the port in his chest and start the plasma exchange treatment. If you could send some good vibes his way we would appreciate it as he will have a long road to recovery but he is young and strong so I’m hopeful his body will handle the treatment well and start healing so the paralysis doesn’t move farther up his body.

Update on Adam Day 2: Adams port was placed and he received his first Plasmapheresis treatment that was a little rough on him he was pretty wiped out. Physical therapy came in and seen him as well as speech therapy for his swallow test. He is extremely weak and in a lot of pain but we are extremely hopeful that with more treatments he will start to gain some strength and mobility he has his second treatment tomorrow morning. The kids are missing him and it’s hard for them to understand why they can’t go see him as with COVID rules no one under 18 and with the date of Adam coming home is unknown it’s been hard to answer the kids question of “when is daddy coming home” ?! Tyson asked to sleep with me tonight and when he got in bed he said I can’t do this and started to get upset I said what’s wrong he said it doesn’t feel right this is where dad is supposed to be I’m extremely proud of Adam for the courage and strength he has had through all this even though it’s been rough on him physically mentally and emotionally but we got the best news that his sister Kristen Marcelewski is flying home to come spend time with him and I’m so excited and so thankful! Please pray for Adam and our kids as the days and weeks of treatment and rehabilitation begin! We are so thankful for all the love prayers and help we have received with visiting Adam and assistance with the kids we are so greatful to have so many loving and supportive friends and family!!

Update on Adam Day 3: Adam had his 2nd treatment this after noon he feels pretty yucky after that but his spirits are better today ! He has OT come in today and assist him with eating and brushing his teeth he transferred to the chair to help with his back pain from laying in a bed 24/7 he was able to look outside and that helped him a lot! Paisley and I are pretty sick today I have caught whatever she has we did get tested for Covid and that is negative thank god ! I’m missing Adam today but thankfully his parents grandparents and his friends have made sure to keep him company all day! He still isn’t wanting to eat much he is pretty drained from the plasma treatment ! But with everything his body is going through his spirits are much better and the drive and will to get better are good today! We can’t thank everyone enough for checking in and being so loving and supportive we are so thankful !! I have been asked many Times if Adam is aware of what’s going on and yes 100% he is fully cognitive and knows everything going on and also how is it that he has gotten Guillain-Barré syndrome and we have no idea ‍♀️ but we are just thankful for all the amazing drs nurses and specialist that have been able to assist in his treatment and that there is a treatment however he has a long road to recovery ❤️‍ we are so thankful for the out pouring love support and concern! We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!! Adam is a fighter and I know he will come back 150X stronger after this ❤️❤️makes me so proud to call him mine and that the kids have a man they can look up to.

Update on Adam Day 4: The doctos gave his body a break from treatment today , he did have OT and PT today and he felt good about that they did some kind of experimental treatment that didn’t go over well for him in the middle of the night that really burned his back he was not happy! He is really missing the kids and I as we are all sick and I can’t go see him it’s been super hard on us! His mom asked the drs for a realistic prognosis this morning and while it isn’t moving any high (the paralysis) it isn’t really getting any better either so he was a little discouraged our hopes is with treatment 3 and 4 he will show some more improvements! Adam is one of the strongest men I know so seeing him stronger and hear the discouraging pitch in his voice has been hard! Please send all your good vibes his way ! He did say mom cut up his food and put it on the fork and he was able to eat a little bit today he has lost some weight and muscle mass but that is to be expected! I just pray everyday that we can get him moving and grooving soon I miss him like crazy I can’t wait to be able to see him again once I’m in the clear from my sickness !!! Thanks for all the texts and calls it’s so appreciated ! Tyson did go stand on Santa Fe With his sign and wave to Adam today very emotional but it’s the only way to see each other and FaceTime which still isn’t the same but it’s all we have right now!

Update on Adam Day 5, hospital day 10 since the start of symptoms: Adam had his 3rd round of plasma treatment he felt pretty tired and weak. He had PT and OT today and they assisted him trying to move and they brought him a walker to hold on to, to try and take a couple steps .While his symptoms are not progressing they aren’t necessarily getting much better he still has no reflexes and no feeling. He has had quite a bit of left shoulder/back pain since his 3rd treatment so they are watching that closely tonight and they will be doing an ekg just to rule everything out precautionary. He was holding onto his sandwich and eating it today so that was huge to see! And to see his hands functioning much better is great even tho he has no feeling in them .His sister got into to town and was able to be with him today so that was everything to him and We were reunited today after the kids and I haven’t been feeling well! He also received so many kind words and encouragement today he was so overwhelmed with love and support thank you thank you thank you !! We couldn’t get through all of this without our friends and family ! Keep the prayers and good vibes coming this way we sure appreciate them ! Even the little steps are big steps in our eyes with Adam and all his body has been enduring but he is strong !!! And we are so proud of all the great strides he has made !! We love you babe!

Our hearts needed this, kids aren’t allowed in the hospital so Adam Eberwein got the approval from his Dr to improvise so that we did !!! My mama heart really needed this today I’m sure daddy’s did too!!

Little morning update Day 6: all the drs came in this morning Adam has a little more strength in his arms and hands even though he can’t feel them. He has been having a lot of shoulder and back pain possibly from being in a bed for the last week he did GREAT with OT and PT today. He did ask the drs today to be realistic today and asked about going home his last (scheduled) treatment is Tuesday if they don’t decide to do more and then after that he will be moved to the rehab unit he wasn’t impressed with the answer but I told him we can’t have him falling or being home alone without being able to move. But today was a win because our family was reunited for the first time since Sunday !!!!!

Adam Update Day 7: we have had a pretty eventful night Adams heart rate has been pretty high off and on tonight I think he has started to freak himself out and then started getting a tight chest and issues swallowing which then in return made himself physically sick his poor body is just going through so much and not feeling himself has really got him shook breaks my heart. It’s hard being in a hospital limited visitation away from your home your kids your animals your own bed your own peace. I’m just praying Adam starts seeing the results he is expecting or expecting of himself so it can give him a little piece of mine that even tho it maybe a long road it’s near ! Here is my bed for the night prolly the last night I’ll get to stay with my sweetie for a while since I have to get the kids ready for getting into a routine for school and me having to go back to work plus the kids are really missing being home too I’m so so thankful for our families and friends helping with the kids and visiting with Adam so I can be with the kids 2020 and 2021 have not been our best but I told Adam tonight I KNOW 2022 is OUR year!!!
