Support SMOKY MTN METAL WORX after Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
My name is Azriella Decker and I am reaching out to share the story of my father Adam "Swiph" Decker, Owner of SMOKY MTN METAL WORX, which as many of you know is one of the main shops to help keep the 80s & 90s style alive. Whether it be from helping people locate certain wheels or parts to fit an old school build or selling somethin of his for the same reason.
My father has always been the first to lend a hand, but he rarely asks for help himself. Whether it be jumping a strangers car, anonymously paying adoption fees at the shelter or to feeding stray animals at his shop, He always goes out of his way to help where he is able too.
Today, I am starting this GoFundMe campaign because he needs our support more than ever.
Recently, my Dad and my Grandma who have been living in North Carolina, were preparing to return to Colorado to be with the rest of our family after what has almost been 5 years (that was only supose to be a few months) He’s been working on his plan to make that happen , However, a devastating hurricane has caused significant flooding in their area, resulting in the loss of his entire shop after being 7 Feet under water. All sources of income and all personal belongings covered in mudd.. Multiple Vehicles that were to be sold were the part of Financial part of the plan to finally to get this 5 year mission complete. Some other Vehicles that are total losses were gonna be transported back to Colorado but now as inoperable they will cost way more and the sentimental doesn’t allow them to be left behind such as his cherished vehicle he inherited from his best friend/brother who has passed within recent months.Yes it’s totaled , but it will not be left behind.
Also a total loss is his brand new 36’ triple axle trailer that he had just loaded up 2 weeks ago with everything our family owned from our storage unit to get ready to make this move. Yes the trailer had insurance but the items inside are literally pricelsss to us.. It’s all Covered in mudd and mold now and tryin to get any single family picture or anything inside saved since those aren’t replaceable is all we can do.
Currently, their living situation is dire, with black mold in the house and no power or water for over a week after hurricane and even now the power isn’t good cause powerbox was flooded so still using generator as much as can.
My father is working tirelessly to manage bills and responsibilities in both North Carolina and Colorado, all while trying to get himself and my grandmother home to Colorado. Unfortunately, he now faces an overwhelming situation with no immediate options or resources available.
SMOKY MTN METAL WORX will
Be Salvaging some items and once cleaned up will be for sale to help with this move and transition.
A couple cars had coverage but being the shop was in a Flood Plain , business insurance wouldn’t provide flood insurance.
We would greatly appreciate any support you can provide—whether it be a donation, a share of this campaign, or even a prayer. Every bit helps as we strive to bring my dad and grandmother back to safety and to his family.
Thank you for your kindness and support during this challenging time.
Once we are able to get them out of there, we can send/post screenshots of where the money has went to. (Bills, plane tickets, etc.)
Prayers are most important so please do that. Thank You from myself, My Family and My Dad and
Smoky Mtn Metal Worx
***Update***
My grandmother has safely made it Colorado.
- I know some may question where we got this goal from, but really this goal is just a number that holds no value to everything lost. The amount of tools my Dad lost which is close to everything, is how he makes money and runs his business. This number is really to help with bills (house payments, insurance etc.) during this process. As well as the actual trip my Dad would be making to Colorado with his truck and
trailer. (Fuel etc)
We thank everyone for being so compassionate during this struggle we and many others are going through.
