Help Adam and Charis Save Their Home
Donation protected
Please consider helping dear friends of mine who have fallen on difficult times.
An enlisted active duty family of 13 yrs. and counting, Adam and Charis purchased their 1st home in Sykesville MD 7 years ago, after years in military housing.
They knew it was a fixer-upper, but didn’t know the sellers hid serious structural and health hazards. They did most of the work themselves over several years while their children were small and between deployments. Towards the end, they hired a professional to improve the garage and entrance area.
That contractor turned out to be unethical. He hired unlicensed subcontractors *including violent felons*, did a fraction of what was paid for and cut corners like omitting 2 foundation footers! The new roof area leaks, there are electrical problems, etc. He was too unreasonable to mediate and the contract called for arbitration.
Another huge setback occurred when the attorney hired to represent the case in arbitration failed to submit any evidence by the deadline! It sounds too sad to be true, but my neighbor knows the attorney that did this. As a result, instead of getting help, the contractor’s attorney won a countersuit of $24,352. Shockingly, the decision can’t be appealed based on legal malpractice.
The contractor is now suing them for attorney fees in HoCo circuit court even though the arbiters denied it. New attorneys continue to fight this contractor, who has no limit to his greed and callousness. Another court hearing is coming up and the legal fees are burdensome.
Adam honorably serves our country and deploys overseas. This is a family who has learned to be resilient and do things on their own, and for them to ask for help is very difficult!
Please consider helping this wonderful family who has been through so much and just wants to do the right thing and have a safe and finished home for their children. Please help me say, "Thank you for your service" and give what you can so they can stay in their home and not have to sell it and lose all of what they’ve worked so hard for.
Thank you so much, and may God bless you!
Even if you are not able to help monetarily, your prayers are greatly appreciated!
