Help activist escape underemployment and housing trauma

Donation protected
My name is Anise (she/her), and I'm raising money for my move to Chicago this summer. After 2.5 years in Atlanta, I decided that enough is enough. For the first year here, I was unhoused and diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder and (Complex) PTSD. I struggled to pay for everything since obtaining my first and current apartment. This housing and financial insecurity was born out of losing my job due to not receiving ADA accommodations for GAD and being denied short-term disability. Over 6 months later, I'm still feeling the financial burden of this loss. I've had to push myself to my mental and physical limits, and it's still not enough.

It's bittersweet to leave now. I created a community, met my first love, and discovered myself as a Black lesbian and an activist. However, I believe I can work smarter, not harder, in Chicago. I'm currently navigating under-employment, and need help breaking my lease and other moving expenses (listed below). Please consider helping me move to Chicago. Thank you for your time and consideration.

  • $1,312.95 to break the lease
  • $1,200 for one month in an Airbnb
  • $140 for one one-way flight, including bags
  • $200 for food budget
  • $68 for PO Box
  • $75 for a monthly CTA pass
