Help activist asylum seeker in time of loss
Irma is an incredible human rights and land defender from Honduras. She came to the U.S. with her son, fleeing multiple attempts on her life for her activism. Always an organizer, she found a new activist home in the U.S. working with Movimiento Cosecha and is also a key member of the Boston Immigration Justice Accompaniment Network.
This spring has been a hard one. Trying to make ends meet and care for her son during this pandemic was hard enough. Now the father of her children back in Honduras has died and she needs support with funeral expenses.
Please give what you can to support this extraordinary woman who fights for justice everywhere she goes and has been through so much.
Some notes on the funds and logistics:
I am Annie Gonzalez Milliken and I met Irma back in the summer of 2019 when she briefly stayed in my home after arriving in Massachusetts as an asylum seeker. I live in Boston, MA.
I am a friend of Irma's and in regular touch with her. I will transfer the funds to her using Venmo as soon as I can withdraw them. They will be used to replace funds she sent to family in Honduras so she can pay rent, buy food, etc.
