When analyzing who you are as an individual, when analyzing your character, and your moral composition one can’t help but see the faces of the people who helped mold and shape them into the individual you are today. Though you meet and are influenced by hundreds and thousands of people, situations, and experiences there are those individuals who’s faces seem to shine the brightest when you reminisce. You can’t help but laugh when you realize that you’ve inherited some their habits with your own kids.
You have this magnetic energy that seems to attract people uncontrollably. Your brown skin and blue eyes were as unique as a black man in the Philippines speaking Tagalog. You have this ability to crack a joke and make people smile no matter the situation. My fondest memories as a baby were sitting on the couch watching the basketball game, ice water in hand with a can of Planter’s peanuts between us. I remember trips to McDonalds for happy meals, nights driving around just cool off watching the starry night, long hard days painting cars or tarring the tin roof after the typhoon. I remember the trips to the gym to watch you play ball or referee a game or two. You are a legend, the reason our name is known all over the Guam. You were the first man in my life. My first example of what a hardworking strong man void of excuses and void of the ability to give up looked like. My first example of what true love looked like. You bestowed upon us the importance of family and you were always there whenever we needed you.
Now it’s our turn to be there for you, when you need us. No excuses, no ability to give up until we’ve secured what you need.
The rock of the McMurray Clan, our grandpa, our dad, has suffered a stroke while visiting family in the Philippines and is in the Intensive Care Unit of R, De C. Galvez medical Center unable to travel back home to us. He has suffered brain damage and is paralyzed on the left side of his body. Unfortunately, Medicare is not accepted in this hospital and we’ve been doing our best to ensure the bills are paid in a timely manner to ensure his continued care. Unfortunately, bills are piling up quicker than we can pay them. The hospital has been patient but is starting to beat on our door for continued payments to ensure care through his recovery without delay.
We ask our family, friends, and the online community for your assistance in helping us to be the strength and support for our grandfather and father. Every little bit helps.
