Hi, my name is Rachel, and I’ve been on an incredible weight loss journey that has changed my life in so many ways. Over the past year and a half, I've lost 100 lbs. through dedication, hard work, and lifestyle changes. While I’m incredibly proud of the progress I’ve made, I now face a challenge that many people don’t talk about: the need for reconstructive surgery to remove excess skin and restore my body to its new shape.
After losing such a significant amount of weight, my body has been left with loose, sagging skin, which causes both physical and emotional discomfort. The excess skin makes it difficult to engage in physical activities that I once enjoyed, and it often causes chafing and irritation. It also affects my confidence and self-esteem, even after achieving a healthier and happier version of myself. My body dysmorphia is at an all-time low, and I don't feel like myself in my own skin anymore.
The above photos were taken one year apart; before the start of my weight loss journey, and shortly after loosing 100 lbs.
The Need for Surgery:
Reconstructive surgery would help me remove the excess skin, restore my body shape, and finally allow me to fully enjoy the benefits of my hard work. It would also improve my quality of life, helping me feel comfortable and confident in my skin for the first time in years.
However, the cost of this surgery is more than I can afford on my own. Insurance and our governments health care typically doesn’t cover the costs associated with cosmetic and reconstructive procedures related to weight loss, so I’m reaching out to my community, friends, and family for support.
How Your Donation Will Help:
The funds raised will go directly towards covering the cost of the surgery, which includes:
- Pre-surgery consultations and medical exams
- The cost of the surgery itself
- Post-surgery care and recovery expenses
- Additional treatments for optimal healing
Your Support Means the World:
I truly believe that with your help, I can reach this final step in my transformation and embrace my new life fully. Whether you’re able to contribute financially, share my story, or send words of encouragement, every bit of support counts and means more than words can express.
Thank you for being part of this journey with me. I’m so grateful for your generosity, your time, and your belief in me.
With heartfelt thanks,
Rachel Goldlist
