Ace is my psychiatric service dog and my closest companion. I raised him from a puppy and trained him myself, and over the years, he has become an essential part of my daily life. Ace helps me manage my mental health and has a special ability to sense and stop my panic attacks, even before I trained him to do so. Our bond is incredibly strong, and he has supported me through some of the toughest times, especially during my first years of college. With Ace by my side, I was able to live a healthier and more stable life, and his presence has truly changed everything for me.
Recently, Ace accidentally ate a pack of gum containing xylitol, which is extremely dangerous for dogs. We rushed him to the vet, where they immediately worked to make him throw up and started him on a dextrose drip to keep his blood sugar stable. He is currently staying overnight at the clinic so the team can monitor him and make sure his levels don’t fall. Not being able to be there for his first vet visit was hard, but I got home as quickly as I could to comfort him. Seeing him so vulnerable and scared was heartbreaking, and I just want to do everything possible to help him recover.
The costs of emergency treatment and overnight care are adding up quickly. I’m asking for help to cover Ace’s medical bills so he can get the care he needs and come home safe and healthy. Any support means the world to both of us and will help ensure Ace can keep being the amazing partner and service dog that he is.
