Help Ace Back On His Feet

Our Story
On Saturday, January 5th, Ace was playing in the backyard and had a fibrocartilaginous embolism (FCE) - a kind of "stroke" to the spinal cord. He lost function in both his hind legs very quickly. I rushed him to the hospital, where he has since been receiving supportive treatment and medications.
Unfortunately we have a long road of recovery ahead of us. While we wait and hope for him to regain function of his back legs and the ability to express his bladder, he is being cared for at the specialty clinic under 24 hour supervision and IV fluids + medications. Once he is more stable, he will begin rehabilitation. We're hopeful that, with physical therapy, he'll regain partial use of one or both of his back legs. If not, he faces amputation of one or both of his legs and will require the use of a wheelchair.
Why You Should Give
Diagnostics so far have included radiographs and a CT with myelogram (dye) of the spine that had to be done under anesthesia. His stay at the clinic includes 24 hour care, sedatives to protect him from further harm, steroids to reduce inflammation, pain medications, bladder expressions, vital checks every couple hours, and more.
The funds we are trying to raise would go towards his stay at the specialty clinic and the rehabilitation to follow. Treatment is expensive and we want the best care possible for Ace.
As we all know, nothing comes free, and the cost continues to rise as we wait and hope for him to improve. And, since we know nothing comes free, we would like to offer services in exchange for donations.
For a $25 donation, Hannah will offer either 30 minute dog walking session or to come and let your pets out during the day for those in the Dallas/Plano/Richardson/Frisco area. She is a veterinary technician at Banfield Pet Hospital and Red Cross certified in CPR for dogs and cats.
For a $50 donation, Rachel will offer a one hour tutoring session. She has been teaching for 3 years and is certified to tutor students from pre-K to 8th grade. She is currently teaching fourth grade in south Dallas and loves working with students of all ages. She can travel within the dallas area or students can come to her house. She will also offer skype tutoring for those not in our area.
We are also available to babysit, offering one hour of babysitting in the Dallas area in exchange for every $20 donation.
Please reach out to us if there are any other tasks we can do to earn your donation.
Ace is our whole life, and your donation will ensure that he gets quality care and the best chance at walking again.
About Ace
Ace is a 6 year old miniature Australian Shepherd. He is a huge sweetheart who loves to cuddle and give lots of kisses. Since he was a puppy, he has always been calm and well behaved - he makes friends quickly and everyone who has met him has been greeted with a bundle of love and joy. He has a very strong personality - sometimes he can even let his stubbornness leak through. He has two brothers - Spade and Rocky - who he loves playing and being with. We have nicknamed him "mountain dog" because of his love of hiking and climbing adventures, and we hope that with proper treatment we can get him back to these activities.

Ace is seen on the left, Rocky in the middle, and Spade on the right.
