Most people who know me well know that top surgery is an idea I've been toying with for a long time. My chest is not only physically cumbersome to me (neck and back pain, sloping in my shoulders) but also emotionally cumbersome. As a non-binary trans individual, it is a struggle to feel connected to my body on a daily basis and my breasts have become part of that struggle. I feel trapped in a body of which I feel immensely uncomfortable every day and it seeps into every part of my life. I was so overjoyed to get my surgery consultation (with a surgeon I've done lots of research and gotten person recommendations about) that I just sobbed tears of relief and excitement of what possibilities it could bring. The one downside to the surgery is that because the surgeon I chose is out of state and I have state insurance (being disabled), none of my surgery is covered by insurance so I have to pay all $7,000+ out of pocket. I'm asking for help because I don't know anyone who has that money on their own and I also have to think about recovery time, taking time off of work, healing implements, etc. The deadline is December 13th 2021, for me to pay for the surgery.
