Acacia Markel Justice is an award-winning creative writer and is dedicated to storytelling that amplifies environmental and social justice issues. With a background in poetry, songwriting, and editing, Acacia is now turning her talents toward filmmaking to shed light on the rapid decline of mangrove forests and its devastating impact on Black and Indigenous coastal communities.
The upcoming documentary, The Voice of The Mangroves, explores the cultural, economic, and ecological significance of mangroves, highlighting how their destruction threatens traditions, livelihoods, and natural disaster resilience in regions like Coastal Louisiana, Nigeria, and the Everglades. Through powerful narratives and compelling visuals, Acacia aims to raise awareness, inspire action, and advocate for community-led conservation efforts.
