Hello, I'm Abri! Thank you for taking your time to read this.
I am an elementary music teacher in Southern NM who has been invited to join the NMSU Wind Symphony on their upcoming trip to perform in Prague.
For those who may not know, I was born with moderate - severe hearing loss in both ears. At the beginning of this year, one of my hearing aids completely broke. It worked for almost ten years which is a miracle in itself. Up until this happened I had been very confident in my commitment to join the Wind Symphony on their trip to Prague, however, I now need new hearing aids. Both the trip and the devices are costly, and I have been considering withdrawing from the Prague trip so I can pay for the new devices.
Recently, a friend reached out to me asking if I could perform at a small retirement party that her and her friends were having. Loving any chance to perform, I said yes! Through conversations, the Prague trip was mentioned and we talked about my current situation with also needing hearing aids. The day after the small performance, my friend reached out to me suggesting that I create a Go Fund Me so that way her and her friends, and whoever else would like, can donate.
I am hoping to fundraise half of the trip's payment, as I have already committed the other half myself. Having the opportunity to perform in Prague is high on any musician's list, and it would be a great experience for me, as my hearing loss is degenerative and I don't know how much longer I'll be able to enjoy playing my clarinet!
Thank you again for reading, and thank you for any donation! Any donation past the goal will be used for new hearing aids. It is greatly appreciated!
