Help Abraham Dimo Get Life-Saving Transplants

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and kind strangers,

It breaks my heart to write this, and I’ve gone back and forth on whether to share — but right now, my family and I are facing something we can’t handle alone.

My father, Abraham Dimo, is currently in the ICU, fighting for his life. In the last 24 hours, things have taken a turn we never expected. He’s a devoted father to five children and one of the strongest people I know. But last night, after a series of serious complications, I had to make the incredibly difficult decision to place him on life support.

His liver has completely failed — it’s at zero percent function. We are holding on to hope and praying that he can wake up on his own. He’s currently being evaluated by Mayo Clinic and the University of Minnesota for eligibility to receive a kidney and liver transplant. On top of that, he has been diagnosed with inflammatory pseudotumor cerebri, adding to the seriousness of his condition.

A little bit about my dad: Abraham came to the United States in 1995 from South Sudan as one of the Lost Boys, fleeing unimaginable violence and war in search of a better life. After arriving in the U.S., he pursued a degree in sociology and nursing at NDSU. He eventually settled in Wahpeton, ND, where he’s lived for the past 15 years. Despite enduring significant health challenges, he’s always worked hard to provide for his family and be a light to those around him.

We’ve been told this will be a long and difficult journey, and we are doing everything we can. But we also know we can’t do it alone. We’re asking for help — whether it’s through prayer, sharing our story, or contributing to the mounting medical expenses and, God willing, the transplant surgery he needs.

Anything you can give or do to support us in this time would mean the world.

With love and gratitude,
the Dimo Family
