Help Abigail Walk Without Pain: Urgent Surgery Needed
A young girl in Uganda needs your help to take her next steps
Abigail Lutaaya is a bright, beautiful little girl from Uganda who will turn 7 years old this August. She loves learning, dreams of going to school, and—like every child—deserves the chance to run, play, and live without pain.
But Abigail’s journey has been anything but easy.
Abigail’s Medical Journey
Abigail was born with a rare and complex condition called arthrogryposis multiplex congenita, affecting her joints, hips, feet, and hands
From just 3 weeks old, she has been in and out of hospitals, fighting for mobility and independence.
She has already undergone:
4 major surgeries
Treatment for hip dislocation
Multiple procedures to correct clubfoot deformities
Placement of metal implants in her hip
Despite all this, one of her legs remains shorter, and her foot deformity has returned.
Why She Needs Surgery Now
Abigail is scheduled for another critical surgery in Uganda on April 27, 2026.
This surgery will:
-Remove painful metal implants from her hip
-Correct her recurring foot deformity
-Give her a better chance at walking and living without pain
Doctors have warned that because she is still growing, her condition can worsen without continued care
She will need to stay in the hospital for several days and continue rehabilitation afterward.
A Family Doing Everything They Can
Abigail’s father, Ronnie, is my friend. He has been fighting tirelessly for his daughter’s future.
He has already contributed to multiple surgeries
In the past, the family had to turn to newspapers and public appeals just to survive medical bills
Even when organizations helped, the family still had to cover half the costs
Now, once again, they are facing a financial barrier they cannot overcome alone.
The Urgent Need
The family is trying to raise:
2.2 million Ugandan shillings (~$600 USD) for the surgery. Additional funds for hospital care and post-operation rehabilitation.
This will help cover:
-Surgery costs
-Hospital stay
-Medications
-Food and care during admission
In Uganda, families often must pay these costs out-of-pocket before care can proceed.
Why Your Help Matters
This surgery is not just medical—it is life-changing.
Without it:
-Abigail may face increasing disability
-Pain and deformity may worsen as she grows
With it:
-She has a chance to walk more normally
-She can begin school with confidence this year
-She can live with less pain and greater independence
A Message from Her Father
