Help Abigail Fight Rare Medical Battle
Donation protected
My name is Abigail Mason, and I am a 27, almost 28-year-old mother of four beautiful, healthy, wonderful kids. I was always healthy up until recently. The reason I am here asking for help is because here is the full story through my boyfriends words. We can start with my actual diagnoses: Postpartum Aneurysm to the Ovarian Artery, PE, and cardiomyopathy. There are only 25 medically recorded cases EVER when it comes to what’s happened to Abigail, and it’s almost always happened with women that have birthed multiple children. We had our 3rd daughter, Ava Rose, on January 2nd. The delivery went perfect, so perfect we got sent home the next day, and we were relieved because it was 2 days before the big snowstorm, so we didn’t have to be stuck at the hospital. Two days after we got home, the night of the snowstorm, Abigail started by saying she had a headache, and while in the bathroom later that night, she complained of pain in her left abdomen and fell to the ground. I helped her up onto the bed, which was extremely painful for her, and while lying on the bed, she started saying she couldn’t see and couldn’t hear anything. She then told me to call 911, so I called 911, and we waited at home with firefighters for roughly 30-40 minutes since the paramedics were busy from the snowstorm. Once we finally got the ambulance unstuck and dug out from the apartment parking lot, they took her to the hospital, where they discovered she had an aneurysm burst and was internally bleeding into her abdomen. She mentions the shock on the doctor's face while seeing the sonogram of the bleeding as being horrific, and the doctor was absolutely shocked at what she was seeing. They rushed her in for emergency surgery to try and find the source of the bleeding but were unsuccessful. The doctors then collaborated with other doctors in the region on options because there are very few doctors that have handled something like this. A regional doctor recommended they do an embolization (run a scope through her leg and use dye to detect the source of the bleeding) and then possibly coil and close it off. They were able to find the bleeding coming from an artery in her ovary and closed it off using 6 coils. To do this, they ran a scope through her leg up to get to her artery to stop the aneurysm. While in surgery, Abigail’s lung collapsed, and when she came out of surgery, she had to be on a breathing machine. She battled with fluid in her lungs and lost blood for 2 days, needing 10 blood transfusions. She recovered for several days and then got discharged after being in the hospital for 6 days. The morning after her night home, she could barely breathe, and every breath felt like stabbing pains to her lungs. We took her back in even though she was dreading going back, having to be away from the kids again, and the stabbing pains lasted several days, which was being caused by pneumonia and an infection on her left lung. She took steroids and antibiotics and was able to recover after a few days and then got discharged and came home again. After being home for 6 days, Abigail was having pain in her chest area, shortness of breath, and in her shoulder, so a few days ago, I took her back. She is now battling a blood clot on her other lung and is on heart failure medication to help strengthen her heart back up because it has been working extra overtime recovering from everything and is weak. She’s also on a blood thinner to break up the blood clot, which could take a minimum of 3 months.
We appreciate all the prayers, food, donations, and offers to help. The cash apps are also below for anyone that would like to help that way.
I have been fighting to stay alive for a few months now, and it’s been the toughest fight I’ve ever had to put up, but I’m staying optimistic, following the treatment plans with the millions of doctors, and going to every appointment even though it feels like every day there’s another one. I also have changed my lifestyle, the way I eat, what I eat, and my daily activity. It’s affected my entire life, and it was truly in the blink of an eye. I am here asking for financial support because, as we all know, insurance does what it can, but it doesn’t take care of everything. I am loaded with medical bills, monthly bills, everyday bills, medication costs, doctor visit costs, and my family and I are needing assistance in any way possible. Any and everything is appreciated!! Blessings to all ❤️❤️
