My name is Dan Hamilton, I'm located in the Pacific Northwest in the US. I’m organizing this fundraiser together with Nesrin Hasan on behalf of our friend Abeer Salim, whose family is in grave danger in Gaza. With your help, we can begin evacuating her loved ones—starting with the most vulnerable—and give them a chance at safety and survival.

Why We're Raising Funds

Abeer’s family has endured unimaginable hardship since the war began. Their home was destroyed, and they’ve been displaced repeatedly—now isolated in the North of Gaza.

We are raising money to help evacuate her family in phases, starting with:

Mahmud (7 years old) and Lilian (1½ years old)

Their parents: Baraka Salim and Fatema Ahmed

Abeer’s parents: Mahmud and Aysha

Our ultimate goal is to evacuate all 13 family members, one group at a time.

The cost to evacuate is incredibly high—around $8,000 per adult and $2,500 per child. The total needed for the family is approximately $108,329. We will adjust the goal as we make progress and prepare to evacuate more loved ones.

In addition to evacuation costs, Abeer is also struggling to cover ongoing living expenses in Egypt, including:

Rent for a house to shelter her and any evacuated family

Medical treatment for her injured and sick loved ones

Basic necessities like food, water, and clothing

Support for her young children, who have been deprived of a safe and normal childhood

To everyone who cares about humanity,

I, Abeer Salim, write to you in a time of dire need. My family of 13 is currently in Gaza, including my 3 nephews and 2 nieces. They are facing unimaginable circumstances and desperately seeking your support to help them evacuate to safety.

My parents, Aysha and Mahmud; my sisters-in-law Hanadi, Fatema, and Fatema A; and my brothers Said, Motaz, and Baraka, are all in need.

I am currently in Egypt, having come here during the war. I feel helpless while my family endures the hardships of the crisis. The situation has worsened, and I fear for their safety every day.

Since October 7, our home has been bombed and demolished. The occupation forces told them to move south. My older brother was pulled from the rubble—injured and unable to walk far. Then in February, he was shot in the back by Israeli forces.

My second brother has fallen seriously ill and was diagnosed with hepatitis C due to the unbearable conditions. I have lost 75 relatives since the war began. A bag of flour now costs nearly $2,000.

My children have not known peace, safety, or play for nearly a year. They are growing up in fear, robbed of their childhood.

How the Funds Will Be Used

All donations will go directly to Abeer Salim, who is working closely with Ya Hala Travel Agency to coordinate evacuations once the agency resumes operations. We are in daily contact with Abeer and have verified her situation and identity before launching this campaign.

This fundraiser is dedicated to evacuation and survival efforts—from covering visa and transport costs to providing essential support for Abeer and her family while they await safety.
