Part of the funds helped our family in Gaza with displacement costs and essentials; the remaining funds will help Abeer buy necessities she was not allowed to bring. Dear friends and compassionate supporters,

My name is Mahmoud Almassri, a student from Palestine currently living in Scotland. I'm raising funds for my sister, Abeer, who has been accepted to the University of St Andrews for the 2025–2026 academic year on the STEPS Scholarship. Originally, Abeer was set to begin her studies in 2024, but the war and border closures prevented her from leaving.

The war on Gaza has shattered our lives. Our home was destroyed, and most painfully- Abeer's father and brother were killed in the war. Despite unimaginable hardship, Abeer remains determined to continue her education and build a better future.

This fundraiser supports two urgent needs:

1-Any expenses needed to be covered during Abeer's journey and resettlement from the moment she leaves Gaza until she safely arrives to St Andrews.

2-Direct support for our family in Gaza. Displacement and survival needs: shelter, food, clean water, medicine, and other urgent necessities for Abeer's family in Gaza.

Funds are allocated between Abeer's travel/resettlement and urgent family needs in Gaza based on the most immediate priorities.
