My name is Ahmed Al-Sumairi from Khan Yunis – Gaza, and my wife Abeer Salem Al-Sumairi is the mother of our four children.
Since October 7, everything we built has collapsed… our beautiful home is now rubble, our dreams have been shattered, and our life has become a worn-out tent filled with cold, hunger, and fear.
My children: Janan (9 years old), Farah (8), Marah (5), and Elias (3) sleep on the cold ground with empty stomachs. Every night, they cover their ears from the sounds of shelling and hide in my wife’s and my arms, as if we were the last wall protecting them from this hell.
My wife Abeer once dreamed of opening a small kindergarten to teach Gaza’s children — a simple yet beautiful dream. Today, she has turned part of our tent into a tiny classroom, without chairs or toys, just a blackboard, pencils, and worn coloring books. Even when she is hungry and exhausted, she sits with the children to teach them, as if fighting the darkness with a small spark of light.
But the war has taken everything from us… our work, our home, our safety, and even our daily bread. Humanitarian aid is scarce, and famine is drawing closer each day. I look at my children and feel helpless, afraid that a day will come when I can no longer save them from hunger or illness.
It has been one year and two months of displacement, fear, and relentless bombardment. This prolonged genocide has stripped us of safety and left us waiting for our turn to die — yet my heart still clings to the hope that a merciful hand will reach us before it’s too late.
Your donation today is not just aid — it is life itself for my family and for other children in our camp. Even the smallest contribution could save them from hunger and cold, and restore the safety they have lost.
