Help Abe Recover from Amputation Surgery

Donation protected

This is Abe — our loyal and loving golden retriever who has recently been through a life-changing medical ordeal.

A few months ago, we noticed swelling and discomfort in Abe’s ankle. After a series of tests including bloodwork and X-rays, we received the difficult news that he had disseminated Valley Fever — a serious fungal infection that had reached the bone.

We began treatment immediately with high-dose antifungal medication, but despite our efforts, the infection in his leg continued to progress. After weeks of monitoring and consultations, the only remaining option to stop the disease from spreading was to amputate his leg.

Last week, Abe underwent surgery. The procedure went well, and he is now home and beginning the long road to recovery. His resilience has been incredible, and we are doing everything we can to help him adjust and heal.

Unfortunately, the cost of Abe’s care has been significant. Between diagnostics, imaging, surgery, post-operative care, and ongoing medication, the expenses have added up quickly. We are starting this fundraiser to ask for support in covering these unexpected medical expenses.

If you are able to donate or share this campaign, it would mean so much to us. Abe is an important part of our family, and your kindness will help us give him the care and comfort he needs during this challenging time.

Thank you for being part of Abe’s journey.

With gratitude,
The Sherrill Family
