My name is Muhammad Abdullah, and I never thought I would be writing something like this.
I have been living with Type 1 Diabetes since 2002. In 2021, I was diagnosed with diabetic retinopathy, a painful reality that threatened my vision. I was determined to fight it, to keep my eyesight for myself and for my young children who need me.
But on 21 September 2023, my life took a devastating turn. I received an Avastin injection to treat my retina, but it was contaminated. Within days, a severe infection set in. Despite all the treatments and unbearable pain, I lost my right eye. My cornea was damaged, and the infection permanently changed my life.
Now, my left eye is also under immense strain. I suffer from diplopia (double vision) due to the pressure, and to save the only eye I have left, I urgently need constant eye injections and treatment. These injections are my only hope to hold onto my sight—but they are extremely expensive and ongoing.
I am not just fighting for my vision, I am fighting for my future, for my ability to see my children grow, to work, and to live a dignified life. Every day is a battle filled with fear—fear of darkness, fear of not being able to see the faces I love most.
I am humbly reaching out for your support. Your donation, no matter how small, can help me afford the life-saving injections I desperately need. It will give me the chance to protect my only remaining eye and continue to live with hope.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading my story and for standing with me in this fight.
