Hello, my name is Michelle and I'm from Phoenix, Arizona & I'm raising funds for my dear friend Abdullah and his family. Abdullah was living in Gaza. Abdullah, his mother Reena, and his 4 brothers are now living in Egypt while his father remains in Gaza. Reena now struggles everyday as a single mother trying to pay every day bills, Abdullah's medical bills, and put food on the table all while taking care of her sick child and the rest of her children.
Below is Abdullah's story, please take a moment to read what he has been through. Please keep him and his family in your prayers. Please donate & share his page. Any amount is greatly appreciated to help this family with their bills and medical expenses.
Hello, my name is Abdullah Habib. I'm 14 years old and I was living in the city of Rafah inside the Gaza Strip. I have a serious and very rare autoimmune disease called ALPS (Autoimmune Lymphoproliferative Syndrome). For 8 years I moved between hospitals in the Gaza Strip in search of a treatment, which I did not find and then moved to the West Bank hospitals but to no avail too. I was transferred to Sheba Hospital, where the doctors tried to treat me with more than one type of treatment, but no avail too. 8 years of travel and movement around the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. 8 years of suffering and taking antibiotics and intravenous acupuncture. The doctors told my father that the disease could turn into lymphatic cancer or leukemia and a bone marrow transplant must be performed as soon as possible. But the closure of the Gaza Strip crossings with the West Bank caused a delay and my health condition worsen. The disease turned into lymphatic cancer. I underwent more than one operation, and then I began my journey with chemotherapy doses for 5 months. Those were very difficult days, but thanks to God I fought the disease with all my might and overcame it. Then the doctors told me quickly about a bone marrow transplant. The marrow was taken from my father and transplanted into me. After the transplant, I suffered from tissue damage, as a result of which I almost died, but God saved me. I had several blood clots in both hands due to IV needles. A year and a half after the transplant, symptoms began to appear including high temp fevers, chest infections, and enlargement of the body’s organs. I was supposed to return to Sheba Hospital for a follow-up, but the devastating war destroyed my dreams of recovery. All Gaza crossings were closed, and I did not find any hospital in Gaza that would take me. I am very tired and doctors told me I had to leave the Gaza Strip for treatment.
With great difficulty, my mother, my brothers, and I left for Egypt, while my father remained in the Gaza Strip. We went to the Nasser Institute Hospital in Egypt, hoping for treatment. They conducted tests, including an atomic scan, then they took me out of the hospital without informing us of the result. After that, we brought the reports from the hospital, and the result was that the disease returned again. A biopsy of the lymph nodes must be taken. The hospital procedures were very slow and they refused to treat me except with approval from the Palestinian Embassy. We brought papers from the embassy after a lot of trouble, then they told me to go home and we will contact you later. This was more than 4 months ago. I am now in a rented house, with my mother and my brothers. We can barely pay the rent. We barely support ourselves and there is no treatment or even a call from the hospital or the embassy.
I am a child like the rest of the children in the world. I have dreams and want a future. I have the right to receive appropriate treatment and good medical care.
I have the right to return to my home, which was destroyed by war.
I have the right to return to my school and my games.........my life.
And now I'm waiting.....!
Thank you for reading what I have endured for more than half of my life. Please help me and my family by sharing my story, sharing my link and donating. Help my family with any donation you can spare, we greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
~Abdullah
