My name is Abdulrahim. I am 40 years old, and I am asking for your help during one of the most difficult periods of my life.

Before 2020, I had what I considered a good and meaningful life. I hold a Master’s degree in Aviation Marketing and Administration, a Bachelor’s degree in Economic and Financial Sciences, and a Diploma in Flight Operations and Aviation Science. I have more than 20 years of aviation experience working across seven countries.

Then COVID changed everything.

Since 2023, I have been living with serious permanent cardiac and respiratory limitations following a carcinoma diagnosis and partial lung resection. My health has made it difficult to continue working in the aviation positions I spent my entire life building my career around.

I have tried desperately to remain independent. I applied for more than 100 jobs in only three months and attended more than 21 interviews. I worked for three different companies, but because of my disability, I repeatedly struggled with the physical requirements of the jobs and the accommodations I needed were not provided. I have also experienced discrimination and situations where I felt I was being pushed out because of my medical limitations.

At the same time, I have been caring for my family.

My father became seriously ill, lived with dementia, and was eventually placed under hospice care. He passed away last July. During his illness, I was his primary caregiver, and I had to find ways to pay for his oxygen, food, housing, and other necessities while having very little income myself.

I have also faced eviction twice within three years because I could not maintain a stable income. I have reached points where I could not see a safe way forward and struggled deeply with hopelessness.

But I am still here, and I am still trying.

I have been incredibly blessed by people who helped me even though they were not from my country, did not share my religion, and in some cases barely knew me. Some came to my home, met my family, saw my father before he passed away, they helped me to cover his funnral, and helped us with food, rent, utilities, and other necessities. Their kindness reminded me that there are still good people in this world.

Now I am trying to take one practical step toward becoming financially independent again.

Friends have helped me with $2,000 toward getting a vehicle so I can start driving with Uber, but I still need $2,400 to complete what is required and get on the road.

Driving is not what I dreamed of doing after spending more than 20 years building a career in aviation and earning multiple degrees. But right now, I am willing to put my pride aside and do whatever honest work I can to create income, support my mother, help my family, continue my medical care, and rebuild my life.

I am asking for help raising $2,400.

I am not asking for someone to solve my entire life. I am asking for a chance to stand on my feet again.

I want to work.

I want to become independent.
