Little Abdoulaye has Lymphoma
Please Help with Basic Expenses:
Dear Friends,
I have held off on creating a request like this for as long as I can.
Back in May, my then 6-year-old son (now 7), Abdoulaye, was diagnosed with stage 3 blood cancer lymphoma. At first, we were shocked and kept this information fairly private, but we find ourselves in a situation where we need to reach out to our community for help.
We are very grateful that Abdoulaye is receiving excellent care at Seattle Children’s Hospital, is tolerating his treatment well, and feels good most of the time. His prognosis is also very good.
Neither my husband, Papis, nor I have been able to work since May. Abdoulaye requires week-long hospitalizations every 3 weeks, with visits to the hospital for infusions, labs, and lumbar punctures in between. Should he develop a fever, he needs to be immediately rushed to the hospital, as the chemo knocks out his immune system and he has a very diminished ability to fight infection.
In the meantime, we have 3 other young children, ages 3, 4, and 10, who need supervision and care, and one of us has to consistently be available to them. School is not in session now, and we have no resources to pay for childcare for them right now.
We have been doing our best to cover our expenses that include rent, utilities, cell phones, 2 car payments, car insurance, gas, etc. I just had to replace all 4 tires on my car, as one of them could no longer hold air.
We have received some one-time assistance through foundations the hospital social worker connected us to, and my mom has been helping as much as she can, but she can’t cover everything.
If all goes well, Abdoulaye’s treatment will be completed in September. We are looking for help to bring us current and to carry us through September. For this, we need $7,000. Any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated.
Please keep Abdoulaye in your prayers.
Thank you.
