Hello and salam alaykum friends. My name is Alina and I am from Naarm, Australia. I am organising this fundraiser for a dear friend in Gaza.

Abdel Fattah is 60 years old, and his family of 23 are currently living in a tent in Khan Yunis, after their home was destroyed and they were displaced.

The family includes his wife, four sons, two daughters, and his grandchildren.

Before the most recent escalation from the occupation, Abd El Fattah was working as maths teacher, and it is his deep wish to get back to his important work.

There is no safety in Gaza.

The family is hoping to evacuate via the Rafah crossing when the opportunity arises, as Abd says, “to another country where there is security, safety and dignity”, however this can cost up to $5000 USD per person, and the borders remain closed.

While saving for this flight to safety, the family also has to fund their daily living costs, which can exceed $300 USD per day, as inflation is high and rising. This is for basics such as water, food, fuel for cooking, and medicine.

Abd sent me these heartbreaking images of his life after the current assault, and says “This is our neighborhood, and my house is severely damaged. I ask God to compensate us so that we can rebuild it”. Please help him provide for his family and keep them safe.
