UPDATE Post 7/21/2025
I hate to be bringing this news. Abby & her mother just moved to Florida last Thursday. They needed to relocate to be closer to Abby’s father. While changing her trach, she aspirated this lead her back to the ICU where they also learned that Abby has sepsis and double pneumonia. The doctors feel at this time Abby’s body is weak and she needs to go into hospice care. She will stay in the hospital on the hospice floor until the details can be worked out especially with her insurance (that’s still under Md. coverage). Amanda is in the process of moving into a rental along with all the other things that go with moving!

She could really use any support during this transition and Abby’s continuing health battle!

Original Post:
Our sweet Abby is a bright, beautiful little girl living with Rett Syndrome — a rare neurological disorder that affects nearly every aspect of her life. She has always faced her challenges with a strength far beyond her years, but right now, she’s fighting one of the toughest battles yet.

Abby is currently in the ICU after what started as a cold turned into aspiration pneumonia, which is particularly dangerous for girls with her syndrome. Due to her inability to cough and her struggles with swallowing, she will soon undergo a tracheotomy and have a feeding tube placed to help her breathe and limit the amount of swallowing she has to do when eating/drinking. These are life-changing procedures that are necessary for her survival, but they also come with immense emotional and financial strain.

Our family is doing everything we can to stay strong for Abby, but the reality is that the cost of ongoing medical care, hospital stays, and lost income from missed work is quickly becoming overwhelming.

We’re reaching out to our community, friends, and extended family to ask for your help. Your support — whether it’s through a donation, sharing our story, or sending prayers and positive thoughts — means more than words can express.

Every dollar raised will go directly to covering Abby’s medical expenses, travel to and from the hospital, and helping our family stay afloat during this incredibly difficult time.

We are so grateful for your kindness, generosity, and love. Abby is a fighter, and with your support, we know she won’t be fighting alone.
