Hello friends and lovers! I’m really blessed and grateful that you took the time to open this, thank you! No matter how long it’s been, so so many of you still hold a special place in my heart, and I miss our connections deeply.
As some of you may know, in January 2023 I left my hometown of NYC and settled in the beautiful state of Michigan! Leaving home was really difficult, but for a myriad of reasons, New York just wasn’t working for me anymore. Moving out here was the first phase in a very difficult journey of being intentional about where I want my life to go, and planning for my future.
I started in the industry fresh out of high school at 18 to allow me to move out of a toxic family environment. Although I love the people I’ve grown close to over the past seven years, I truly did never expect to stay in the biz this long! But not only is it literally brutal out there in the general economy for people without family money or connections, but also on an emotional level, over the years I convinced myself that this was the only way I could support myself.
In August of 2023, I finally saved what I thought was going to be enough money to retire from the biz, and took what honestly felt like the scariest risk of my life! Leaving behind this world and starting my own “vanilla” small business. I’ve been working harder than I EVER have in my entire life to make it happen, but the cost of living (particularly in the metro Detroit area! We were ranked the fastest growing inflation rates in the country recently) keeps rising, all the while my business is still very much getting off the ground.
It’s looking like I may run out of savings soon, and have no choice but to call it quits. That’s why I’m calling on all my friends I’ve made over the past seven years to ask if they might help to support my dream! My goal currently is to raise enough for four months of my rent, which will buy me hopefully enough more time to grow my business big enough to survive off of.
If you’ve made it this far, I can’t thank you enough! Seriously, because I know we may have not spoken recently (which I regret wholeheartedly!) it means so much that you have fond enough memories of our time together to take the time to read how I’m doing now. I’d so appreciate if you’d also give me a life update! What’s new with you? I’d love to hear.
Thank you again from the bottom of my heart,
Abby
