Hi friends and family!
I’m going to Lausanne, Switzerland! I’ll be traveling for a 9-day international field experience. As a part of my Kinesiology – Exercise Physiology program at San Diego State University, it is part of my curriculum to study abroad! The program fee is $1,200 and a roundtrip flight ticket will cost about $1,300 to total $2,500. My regular tuition fees are still being paid and studying abroad takes a great, sudden financial toll. I am asking for any help whether it be through helping fundraise money, sharing your personal experiences traveling, or your prayers and good vibes! Please know that for me, any amount of money means a lot and is no small gesture.
I will be fundraising from now until the trip which will take place at the end of March 2017.
During my stay in Switzerland, I will attend several educational seminars about Swiss culture, education system, healthcare system approach, and sport. I will also be visiting the Lausanne University Hospital, Lake Leman, the capital Bern, the United Nations in Geneva, the Red Cross International Museum, Nestlé headquarters, and hiking in the Swiss Alps!
I am very excited and grateful for this opportunity for learning and travel. It’s been years since my last international experiences: a short stay in Germany visiting family when I was 7, and living in Japan for a few years when I was 5. Over the years, God showed me that my ultimate purpose is to serve others. This trip will help me gain vision for how I can serve others’ health and wellness needs. I’m very excited to make new friendships in Switzerland and develop a more global perspective on healthcare and human services. Along with studying abroad, I am part of a semester long class called Applied Health and Human Services. The class examines economic, political, cultural, environmental, health and human service challenges, and variations with respect to disease, mental health, and poverty in a non-Western region or country in Asia, Africa, Central and South America. I am excited to grow a deeper understanding of the current global society we live in by learning about international health disparities and witnessing these challenges first-hand.
