Help Abby get a POTS Service Dog for College
Donation protected
Hi my name is Abby, and I am fundraising for a service dog. I am a senior in high school. I was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) within the last few months. I have been having gradually worsening symptoms for a little over a year now. It has now gotten to the point where I no longer feel comfortable driving, and so my daily life has been altered a good bit. There is a long list of symptoms that I am experiencing. Some of them include: high resting heart rate, exercise intolerance, orthostatic intolerance, heat intolerance, muscle and joint pain, dizziness, nausea, brain fog, presyncope(almost passing out), migraines, and more. I really want to go to college and study Animal Science, however I could not see myself being able to handle all of my symptoms alone safely. I now have the opportunity to get a service dog who will help me manage my symptoms and eventually hopefully alert me when I am about to have a flareup. I have found a good trainer who has already been so much help, and we should be able to get a puppy in early 2024. This does come at a cost though and that is where I need help. The puppy will cost around $3,500 plus monthly insurance, and the cost of training will be around $20,000. This service dog will help me feel safe to follow my dream and go to college. Any donation is greatly appreciated and even if you cannot donate at this time, please feel free to share this fundraiser with others.
