We are reaching out on behalf of our family friend, Abby Garrity. Abby is the victim of a carjacking and sexual assault between Pennsylvania and Delaware. Abby is an occupational therapist and was on her way to work at a retirement community when she was carjacked and sexually assaulted at gunpoint. She is a mother and wife, a daughter, a sister, a cousin, a niece, and a friend. She cannot currently work due to the intensive trauma therapy and medical care she is receiving. She cannot work because she cannot touch and be touched, which are very important parts of her job providing therapy. She has out of pocket expenses and needs assistance with costs of living, student loans, and childcare while she seeks treatment. She spent six years in school training for her profession. Her livelihood, peace of mind, safety, and health have been cruelly taken from her. The perpetrators of this horrible crime have been apprehended and prosecution is underway.
Abby and her family have raised our children and been a part of our lives for many years. We ask you to consider showing your support for Abby and her family and donate to offset many of the costs associated with being a victim of a violent crime. Her will to survive and get back to her family alive is the most courageous and brave thing we have ever known. Abby has helped us and her patients; and now we can show her the community at large supports her in her journey to heal.
