I was diagnosed with stage 3C cancer on January 2nd after a year or so of health issues, ignoring obvious signs of decline. As most of you know, the past few years have been more than a struggling battle. My body started reflecting my life in the last few months of 2024.
I had emergency surgery on Dec 27 to remove a mass on one of my ovaries. Biopsy results came back on the 2nd, but after researching symptoms, the surgeon and I knew the outcome before then.
Insurance and the healthcare system prevented me from starting treatment immediately. The mass on my cervix grew from 4.8cm to 6.3cm in less than 2 months. I just finished my first week of treatment this last week: radiation 5 days a week, chemo for 3 hours one day a week for 3-4 weeks. After that round, depending on how I respond, I will go through more radiation with immunotherapy for another 3-4 weeks.
Asking for help is one of the hardest things for me to do, especially if I am unable to work or barter in exchange. My life has completely changed.
Right now, my 2002 Mazda needs a tune-up and oil change. My daughter Gloria, a senior in high school, in Georgia wants to visit me before she graduates in May. My son Dominic will be visiting in April. I have no way of earning money for personal items or necessities. I’m receiving food stamps and Medicaid, but that covers only so much. I’m living with a friend, but bills don’t pay themselves.
Doordash gift certificates are awesome, Amazon as well, so I can get what I need delivered. I’ll be living by myself most of the time.
I don’t know how treatment will affect me physically, but so far emotionally and mentally it’s been challenging.
Thank you so much for helping me through this, I love you all
