My cousin Abby has been courageously fighting metastatic cancer since 2023. Recently, doctors shared the heartbreaking news that her illness is now terminal, with an estimated six months left. She’s currently experiencing intense pain, including a possible broken rib caused by the cancer, and is awaiting further PET scan results.
We’re raising funds to help Abby spend this precious time creating meaningful memories with her children and husband — and to ease the financial burden on her family during this incredibly difficult chapter.
Abby Lucero — a remarkable woman who is facing the final stage of a long and brave battle with cancer.
In November 2023, Abby was diagnosed with cancer that had already spread to her liver. Since then, she has faced every part of this journey — from chemo to radiation — with extraordinary courage and love. Earlier this year, we held on to hope when she was briefly added to the transplant list. But in 2025, her cancer returned and spread to her bones. Abby’s doctors have now shared that her illness is terminal, with an estimated six months left — though, as we all know, that timeline is never certain.
Abby has experienced more loss than most of us can imagine. She lost her dad to cancer at age 9, and her mom when she was just 20. And yet, through all of that, she built a life rooted in compassion, resilience, and love. She’s spent years working at Mary’s Place in Seattle — a nonprofit that supports families experiencing homelessness — pouring her energy into helping others find stability, safety, and hope.
She is now a devoted wife to Keith, and the loving mother of Koa (14) and Ayla (11). They are her everything.
With time running short, Abby’s greatest wish isn’t a grand gesture. It’s simple and sacred: she wants to spend this summer creating memories with her kids and her husband — ones that will carry her family through the years ahead. She wants to fill these weeks with love, connection, laughter, and togetherness.
But the reality is, the emotional and financial toll of her illness has been immense. Keith has already used all of his family leave for the year, and as they face mounting costs, Abby is deeply worried about leaving him and the kids with overwhelming debt.
So I’m asking, from the bottom of my heart: will you help?
Your donation will go toward:
- Giving Abby the ability to be fully present with her family this summer — free from financial stress
- Helping cover everyday expenses while Keith steps back from work to be by her side
- Easing the burden of funeral and memorial costs when the time comes
- Supporting her children as they face life without their mom
This isn’t just about money. It’s about giving Abby the gift of peace — knowing her family will be okay. And giving her family memories to hold on to, long after she’s gone.
No amount is too small, and every share matters. Thank you for reading Abby’s story and helping us surround her with love in this precious time.
With gratitude
