Help Abby and Family Through This Medical Crisis
Donation protected
A lot of people have been reaching out via text and calls, asking how they can help or what they can do for us during our stays at the hospital. As many of you know, Abby has been really sick and we were in a local hospital from June 25th through the 30th. They discharged her thinking everything was under control and told us to come back for some follow-up testing in about 3 weeks. Tuesday, she started vomiting again, and per our pediatrician's recommendation, we took her to Chicago to Lurie Children's Hospital. Abby had a bout of a similar thing back in February and hasn't really been feeling right since then and has lost 50 lbs since February. We are confident we are where we need to be with them trying to figure out what's going on with our girl and ruling out other issues. Today, they said they expect us to be here at least another week, but they're not sure at this time and may start a feeding tube on her in the next couple of days.
As you know, the medical bills are adding up, trips back and forth are adding up so that either Randy or I are always here with her, food and meals for us here at the hospital and for our girls at home, hospital parking, etc. On top of it, since I'm off work, I have applied for FMLA, but they don't allow us to use sick time leave for your child being sick, so while I'm off, I'm not getting paid. We thank everyone that has reached out, supporting us and Abby during this time, and appreciate anything given to help our family during this challenging and unknown time.
