Help Abbie Close the Book on Cancer!

Abbie Norris Davidson is a librarian and voracious reader, but this is one book she never wanted to pick up! We, her friends and family, want to help her get through it and on to the happier tale a newlywed’s life should be.
Abbie married her love, Michael, in November 2021, shortly after the couple purchased their first home. They were still in the honeymoon phase when she woke up with a swollen lymph node above her collarbone the day before New Year’s Eve 2021. After traveling to M.D. Anderson in Houston, Abbie received a diagnosis of Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in January 2022. She was found to have multiple tumors, including a mango-sized one around her heart.
Having family in Houston meant that she was able to begin treatment at M.D. Anderson right away, her first round of chemo falling during the week of her 27th birthday. Abbie will go through six months of chemotherapy in total. She had a rough start, but with excellent care, her positive attitude, and faith, things are now progressing smoothly. She is showing a complete response to her treatments so far and her tumors are shrinking!
Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a common cancer for people in their 20s and 30s, but it often goes undiagnosed until later stages. However, treatment is relatively straightforward and standardized, and success rates are quite good. We are thankful that Abbie’s condition was discovered when it was, and we have faith that she will make a full recovery. Abbie has handled all of this with grace and humor, as have those around her – her husband even jokes that she’s an overachiever for skipping straight to Stage 4!
Through this GoFundMe, we hope we can help alleviate some of the costs associated with treatment. All funds raised will go directly to the cost of chemotherapy, scans, tests, medicine, travel, and secondary care to help relieve side effects from the chemo. The medical bills are already adding up, and while she has not yet received an overall estimate, Abbie has seen estimates up to $300,000 - and that’s just for the chemo itself! If the amount of money raised is more than what is owed, Abbie plans to donate the remaining amount with the specification that it be given to another young adult battling lymphoma.
Abbie is fiercely loyal to those she loves, takes action to make the world a better place, and finds joy in creativity. We want to help this brilliant, funny, beautiful woman reclaim these early days of her marriage. They should be full of joy, not worries over medical bills.
Any amount helps - thank you so much for your support!
