Help Abbi beat bone cancer
Donation protected
Abbi is a 5 year old American Staffy cross that I adopted from the RSPCA when she was six months old. She is the most beautiful, sweet, gentle dog. A few weeks ago, she developed a sore leg that swelled up to twice its normal size. I took her to the vet where they did x-rays and fluid tests that were inconclusive. They gave her steroids and told us to come back in two weeks for more x-rays. Since then, the swelling has gone down but she's lost all of her muscle mass in that shoulder. In just a few weeks, she's lost 20% of her body weight. We went back to the vet yesterday, and they've said it's likely bone cancer (osteosarcoma). Her prognosis would be six to 12 months. They recommend amputating the leg but first, we should do a CT scan to confirm. After the amputation, she would also need chemotherapy.
We live out of my car while I travel the country (for my job as a photographer) and I can't afford the scans she needs to confirm the diagnosis, or for the amputation and care afterwards. I desperately want to take away her pain (osteosarcoma is a very painful cancer) and give her as many more years as I can. She's still so young and such a sweet, gentle dog. I'm raising money to get her the CT scan and to have the amputation surgery. Any amount that you can give is so, so, so appreciated. As a token of my gratitude, I will give any donors located within Australia a free photoshoot once Abbi is better and able to travel again.
Please consider donating to help Abbi get treatment. These funds will be used for:
- a CT scan ($1600-1800)
- any x-rays that need to be done (~$600 each)
- front leg amputation (~$1200-1800)
- chemotherapy ($400 every three weeks)
- any other medications she may need
