Help Abbey Stay in College: $1500 Needed
Donation protected
Hi everyone, I am trying to raise $1500 so that my daughter can continue to go to college and get her degree as an anesthesiologist. Like many students, she went to school during the pandemic. She worked very hard during online, restricted classroom schooling, and homeschooling, graduating grade school with honors but not being able to have a graduation ceremony or dance due to COVID.
We then lost our home when our landlord passed away because the new owner raised the rent to an astronomical amount that we could not afford. We sold or put in storage everything we owned and moved into a small studio owned by friends that was fifty miles away from all of her friends. She started at a new high school not knowing anyone and worked so hard. She graduated with honors, plays 7 different instruments, and starred in the high school musical. Her dream was to go to Rutgers and become an anesthesiologist. After applying to colleges, she was accepted by many, but the one she wanted was Rutgers, and they put her on a waiting list. She was so disappointed; she had worked so hard to get there. A month before she had to make a decision, she received amazing news: she had been accepted to Rutgers with a full scholarship. We spent every last dime to ensure she had everything she needed to live on campus. She had a bike and the bus to get around because we could not afford to get her a car as our own 17-year-old car is on its last legs, and we drive 100 miles a day to get back and forth to work. She works on campus as part of the financial aid agreement, and she takes classes full-time and is also in the marching band.
The reason we are asking for help is because they just told her she owed them $1500, or she would not be able to continue at school next semester. We are so financially strapped between bills, car repairs, gas, and medical bills; we have nothing left, actually less than nothing. She has worked so hard to get there. If there is any help that can be offered, we would be so grateful. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Abbey's Mom
