Help Starved and Injured German Shepperd
I found this young, female, German Shepherd on the side of Highway 152, just past Los Banos, on January 24th. She was propped up against a fence, with only farms and fields for miles. Her leg was clearly broken and she was clearly out there for a long time. I barely saw her ears peaking up above the tall grasses she was laying in. As soon as I walked up to her, she came jogging over, only using one back leg. She was never aggressive once, and hopped right into the back seat of my little car. She was exhausted from even walking 20 feet, and after her first vet visit, we know her ankle had been shattered for at least a month. It looks like she was hit by a car and has been laying, alone, in pain, in the cold, wet, grass ever since.
I have tried very hard to find her previous owner, and she has no chip, so it is up to me now. I have taken on the responsibility of helping her, as I can't stand to see such a sweet soul suffer. The vet says it looks like the entire leg needs to be amputated, which is around $2000. Her x-rays, bloodwork, antibiotics, pain medication, food, etc. has already exceeded $600 as well. I am a full-time student with no job, who is willing to put the work in to help her, but I don't have the money. She needs help immediately, and it looks like her surgery would be sometime late next week.
Anything helps! Whether it is just a $5 donation, or a $100 donation, every little bit will be put towards helping Winnie. She is a wonderfully kind and beautiful dog who just needs some serious love and care. Follow her Instagram for updates! ig: @help.winnie.gsd
